FEATURES & BENEFITS OF THE LINEAR HIGH GRADER OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM (LHG)

The LHG is a Linear Planermill Grade Optimizer located inline behind the planer. It measures characteristics (defects) of the lumber to increase productivity, consistency and other profitability factors of the planermill. The standard LHG system layout incorporates a linear scanner & Optimization system, a board tracking system, a Grade Mark Reader, a Wintally and a Control system.

Optimization in the Planer mill is an increasingly critical element to remaining competitive due to it's ability to increase grade opportunities and end-product consistency. Further profitability is achieved by simply extracting the maximum opportunity from the raw resource through accuracy and the ability to easily determine the most valuable cut combination (Cut 'N' Two vs. Trim, etc.).

Sensor Modules
The Coe Newnes/McGehee LHG is designed in modular form, allowing easy upgrades to current and future technologies, permitting clients to reap the benefits of the base model before taking the technology plunge and associated learning curve of the additional modules.

The base model consists of the frame with the drive unit and the drive-out sensor unit which contains four Laser profile sensors. The Laser profile sensors provide geometric profiles of each individual face every 0.2” along the board at a feed speed of 2400 fpm. The patented method of “True Differential Thickness Measurement®” places the laser directly opposite each other on two axis to provide absolutely precise measurements of each side of the board.
